Non-magnetic version of the Cryo Linear Actuator (CLA) which is developed for positioning in a cryo-vacuum environment. Internal piezo ceramics generate a torque pulse which causes the spindle to rotate relative to the stationary nut yielding linear motion. A coating is applied on the spindle for good tribological behavior without any lubrication. The result is an actuator ideally suited for set and forget applications with positioning capabilities in the nm range and driving forces up to 30 N. The system is self-locking and a holding force of several 100 N is possible.
